Homeless Assistance

Coastal Community Action Program provides a variety of programs in individuals experiencing homelessness. Sometimes people need a hand to get back on their feet. CCAP works to develop and maintain effective working relationships with agencies and community resources in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. Below are the resources CCAP has available to help individuals and families re-build their lives.

If you find yourself homeless or you know of someone that is homeless or soon to be please call 360-533-5100.

The Consolidated Homeless Grant (known as CHG) combines state homeless resources into a single grant opportunity to county governments (and other designated entities) under the administration of The Department of Commerce. The CHG is designated to support an integrated system of housing assistance to prevent homelessness and quickly re-house households who are unsheltered.

For Grays Harbor County, Coastal Community Action Program works with partners on the Continuum of Care Committee and the Grays Harbor County 10-year Homeless Plan. This program provides resources to address the needs of people who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness, as described in the Local Homeless Plans for Grays Harbor County.

CHG supports a variety of activities, including:

  • Operation of emergency shelter and transitional housing units
  • Rental assistance
  • Data collection and reporting

The Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) Program funds are limited to providing rental assistance, utility assistance and essential non-cash housing needs (personal hygiene items and bus tokens) for some recipients of state-funded Medical Care Services (MCS — also known as Medicaid). Eligibility is determined by the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).

Coordinated Entry is the first step to accessing CCAP’s housing services (HEN, homeless housing, rental help, eviction notice, etc.). You will discuss your situation, be provided with needed resources and referrals and be referred to a housing specialist upon qualification.
