Help for the Home  -  At a little over 60 years old, disabled and very low income, Wilma was having trouble with her power and fuel bills for her 1920's built home. She qualified for CCAP's weatherization program and the energy assistance program. Walls, ceilings, and floors were insulated. The gas furnace was inspected and minor repairs were made. CCAP then helped her through the winter by helping her pay the gas company bills for the winter. She said "I did not realize that they were going to do all that they did. I'm very satisfied and very happy and so appreciative of them."

Emergency Funds - $7.00 short - In early December 2002 a woman sat in the CCAP lobby teary-eyed, her jaw swollen and red from an impacted tooth. She had been able to see a dentist but he would not do anything about the tooth until the swelling and infection was reduced.  He gave her a prescription for an anti-biotic and a pain-killer. She had gone home and dug through her purse, drawers and seat cushions but was $7.00 short of being able to purchase the prescriptions. She came to CCAP for help. Within half an hour, CCAP employees had contacted a local pharmacy and paid for the prescriptions

On the Scene, Day In and Day Out - During the past year the CCAP Senior Nutrition program provided 86,124 hot meals to seniors in need. The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program regularly assists over 700 clients each month. The CCAP Medical Transportation program, designed to offer those in need of transport to medical services not available in our rural community a ride to those services, drove 1,755 patients to distant treatments last year. Also during the last year, nearly 300 individuals were assisted through the CCAP Community Jobs program. Every month well over 200 individuals are assisted with daily needs through our In-Home Care program. 150 families received rental assistance last year and 18 families benefited from our transitional housing program. During the past year 70 homes were weatherized. More than 1,200 school children in low income families received their school supplies. And last year 1,430 families were assisted with our Energy Assistance program. These are just a few of the programs available to our community
